Trees make a city. Trees also make a yard. My neighborhood saved every tree they could when developing it and it made a huge difference. I'on won the neighborhood of the year two years in a row for the Nation! I believe the trees play a part in this. Please try to preserve the trees you have and plant more whenever possible

I love trees also! This is the greatest tree I know. It is called Angel Oak and it is said to be the oldest living thing East of the Mississippi at 1400 years old. It is on Johns Island SC

My neighbor recently cut down a huge magnolia in her yard. It was right by the sidewalk, so I really loved walking by it. Now she and her neighbors have no screen between them- they'll have to have their shades down all the time, unless they're exhibitionists. I'm MAD about the whole thing. I like the woman who cut the tree down, but I wish I could have issued a restraining order to keep her from destroying her tree. Is she allowed to just do that?

I feel your pain! I know in Charleston SC that you have to have permit to take down trees of certain diameter. Some trees are designated as historic which is great since there are many trees older than houses! Although in Costa Rica we have taken down a few trees in order to open up the view to the ocean, so it can go both ways.
