The market is ripe for buying right now. I am itching to pick up ne more property here in Charleston. I found one on my friend's MLS website. It looks like what I am looking for. The appraiser came back with a huge list of concerns. Mold and formosan termites. The house is only 790 square feet and my plan is to sink 30k into renovations and then try to sell as market heals itself. My question or moreso, moy need for advice is should I worry about formosan's returning if I pay this termite company $1200 to kill and treat the house? I am afriad I will buy the house, gut it and then seal it back up only t o find out the formosans are still eating in 2-3 years when I try to sell. Any advice is greatly appreciated. This is my ...

I would be wary of a house with Formosan termites indeed. The eat at an alarming rate and are hard to kill and identify. It is very tough for a termite company to truly completely erradicate them. Also they are probably enjoying that area and will be back after snacking on the neighbors house. It is a tough one to shake. I think you can find something even better without what i consider red flag # 1 Formosan Termites!
