I like to throw parties! Over the last 15 years I have thrown some epic fiestas. Super Bowl to New years to Fourth of July. They are the best way to show off your house. To me a party has all types of characters and lasts a long time. Who else likes to entertain? Maybe we could swap some event ideas. Shelby

I enjoy throwing parties too! I mainly just cover the big holidays. The one problem I have is that I never quite know how much food to prepare or the best way to serve it. I have tried buffet style, pass around hors d'heurves, sit down dinner, carry around dinner, you name it. I have run out of food and I have had so many leftovers I don't know what to do with. And still l can't figure out what is the most enjoyable for my guests. Catering is wonderful but it gets expensive. Do you have any suggestions to cut costs but keep it fun?

As a party attender and goer I can tell you what I expect and look forward to at a good party. When I walk in I like to be received by a table full of apps. Its always a good sign that your party hoster is prepared and ready to rock. For any ultimate party the food should take a step up after that... some fresh burgers and hotdogs depending on the party... maybe chili and oysters - always a crowd pleaser. I don't like the hoster carrying around food on a plate. At this point I prefer them to relax and start enjoying the party as well. No one likes a stressed out hoster, it makes the whole party tense. So, make the food let everyone know it is available and ready to eat. Another way to minimize too much food is to take orders... ... full text |

I think parties by the firepit are a fun way to go. You can cook your food there and throw your trash right in after you are done. I agree with Ctwonrebel that a keg is the way to go.

Firepits are great but for food I recommend potluck. You always get great food, more interesting for both host and guest than the normal...and no leftovers, no preparation beyond your own dish. Guests come with a good attitude since they contributed something and they can talk to each other about what they made.

here's a good party idea... let 5 CofC coeds publicize on the internet for three weeks and invite all their friends over on Halloween weekend.

That place looks familiar.... Hmmmmm... I think I know the owner of that house. I bet the party looked something like this.
