Back in Action

Hi Everyone,

So the dev team is back after a nice and much-needed vacation in Japan, and now it's time to get back to work!
Thanks to everyone who kept the site going in the meantime.

One small change today:
The "Staff Picks" feature has been replaced with "Home Spotlight". Staff Picks wasn't working anymore because it was too hard and also unfair for us to pick out some houses over others...that's what the weekly contest is for! So now, the Home Spotlight section on the front page will show a house picked at random, with the condition that it needs to have at least 15 pictures and also the home description should be filled out.

May Update

Hi Everyone!

Congrats to our first 11 House of the Week winners.
Great houses, if I do say so myself (one was mine!)
Hope everyone is having a good time.

It's been an interesting couple days at HT.
First we finally resolved a bug with the image uploads, which had prevented many people from uploading. Many thanks to Ben and AJ for helping me debug this.
So, if you were not able to upload, *please try again*!

Then right after that, the server went down for 12 hours. That at least was not our fault.
Anyway, hopefully we're done with these interesting developments.

Coming soon:
Look for some upgrades to the profile pages, showing recent comments posted and images recommended.
Also look for a slideshow exporter, so you can cut and paste a slideshow of your house into another web page or blog.

Well it might be a few weeks on these things, because the HT development team is off for a well-earned vacation to Japan!!

Tax day update!

Hi everyone,

Yesterday was a rough day for Housetribe management...1040's, K-1's, schedules A-Z were flying. But we made it through.

What's new on the site lately:

* Big Congratulations to our first 6 House of the Week winners! Some great houses!

* Lots of additional help text to streamline the posting process. Please shout out if anything makes you think for more than 30 seconds!!

* New Inquiry Tracking feature - if you post a vacation rental or other commercial posting, we'll store and track your inquiries in a handy table.

* Yahoo Mail problems :-( They don't know us yet and are delaying our emails. Until we get this resolved, if you have a Yahoo email address, you will receive your notifications of comments etc. a day or so late.

Hi Everyone!

We'll try to keep this blog up to date with the latest developments and news of the site. Maybe we'll make a separate page with this stuff too but for now this is easiest.

So what's new...well, everything is new. The site is new and still evolving as you may have noticed. We recently made a dramatic change to the overall color scheme (pink background!) and numerous smaller stylistic changes, added help links, etc, etc.

The big news of course is the contest! We have 9 entries in the first week and we plan to promote this vigorously once we're sure the bugs are out. First winner to be announced this coming monday!

What else...

* Flickr/Picasa photo gallery import. If you already uploaded to a photo site, why do so again? Just import from there to here.

* Sideways image fixer. If you uploaded or imported images and they came out sideways, no problem - just click on them on the Organize page and use the rotate buttons.
